Park(ing) Day: Smashing Success

We had so much fun at Memphis’ first Park(ing) Day. Tucker and Mark came up with a really fun concept that we hope illustrated HFH at its best: healing through community, art, play, and love for others.

Our installation included the following: a conversation pit around the fire, a community art project, live music, and outdoor table tennis (straight from the red barn). At one point, a professional on his lunch break played ping-pong with a homeless man. It was neat to provide a space for this sort of interaction to occur. We had some great feedback on the interactive display, and we hope that just a few more people in Memphis learned more about Habitat for Hope and our work in this city.

It's getting there...

Finished!

(Park)ing Day Today!

The LUVMUD and HFH crew will be downtown all day for (Park)ing Day! We have transformed two parking spaces at Peabody and Main into an interactive project detailing the LUVMUD and the atmosphere of fun and play that we seek to inspire families with at Habitat for Hope.

Please, Please Don’t Volunteer with Us

We’ve made Dr Harold Tobaggans rather prestigous list of places “not to volunteer” in Memphis! Thanks, Dr T for being so faithful in your campaign against the Good.

There’s little old us, listed right in with some of our favorite charities doing life-changing work in Memphis.

Don’t let Dr Toboggans win! Go find somewhere (here?) to do some Good!

Congratulations, friends!

Habitat for Hope has some wonderful news!  The staff is expecting two new babies in late October and early November!  Ginny Gross is due October 29th and Becky Davis is due November 10th.  We have been needing more staff. :)  Please be in prayer for both of these ladies and their babies.  Pray for healthy pregnancies and deliveries.

You might have already been praying for Tucker and Becky’s adoption process.  God has decided to bring them a child another way at the time!  They will put the adoption on hold for a year or two or until God shows them the right time to start the adoption process again.

Welcome Pastor Bo…

We are so excited to announce that our dear friends and former HFH parents, Bo and Lindy Oswalt are making preparations to join HFH staff! This add has been in the works for some time, and is a huge win to our growing team – Bo is an ordained Baptist minister and Lindy is a certified mental health counselor.  Even more importantly, their experience and continued growing desire to invest and build relationship with hurting families fits perfectly for Habitat for Hope. Their four children, Spencer, Carter, Isabella and Landon are ALSO excited about the move to Memphis! Spencer informed Samuel and Izaiah recently that he lives “here”: on the HFH property. Mouths of babes!

Bo wrote a great post about the Downline discipleship conference that he attended with the HFH guys recently – visit Carter’s site here for a taste of what’s to come.

More soon about the precious Oswalt Family!
